Exciting Days

What a lovely surprise to get this support for our ongoing School Garden Project at Walton Elementary. The initiative is financed largely by the parents, so this helps to keep costs lower for our families. We think it is a valuable experience to show the primary grade students how to grow food and prepare it. Everyone loves the project.

Outdoor learning, especially linked to our school gardens, is so important as it gives students the opportunity for hands on learning about their natural surroundings, to experience the joy of nurturing and to understand they can be a part in building sustainable solutions.

We are so grateful for the generous donation to our school. This initiative has sparked wonderful conversations about growth, sustainability, nature, and the world around us.

Thank you so much for the plants. We are happily growing vegetables in our garden this year. It is important for children to be connected to the land and to understand that vegetables and fruits don't grow in the grocery store. We are excited to nurture our plants and watch them grow and when ready, to eat them.

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Each of our classes was excited to receive their plants and immediately went out to plant them in our school garden. Your invitation, pick up set up, and organization was top notch and it made gardening (which is not easy for all!) a pleasure to participate in.

Each spring, 35,000 seedlings and starter plants are delivered to school garden programs throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The annual event offers young students an opportunity to learn about where their food comes from and to experience the joy of growing their own vegetables. We hope to support outdoor place-based learning and look forward to seeing your gardens thrive.

School registration for Giving Gardens 2023 is now closed.
All new registrations will be added to the 2024 intake.
