Urban Roots Garden Market is excited to announce that it will be opening eleven new pop-up store locations throughout Vancouver and the Fraser Valley on April 1, 2022.
Last year was the inaugural season for Urban Roots Garden Market’s new pop-up garden store concept, with seven temporary gardening stores attracting over 80,000 visitors last year. This year, they are poised to make an even bigger splash, with eleven stores opening across the region. Store locations include:
- Vancouver – PNE
- Vancouver Mainstreet
- Kitsilano
- Kerrisdale
- North Vancouver
- Sunset/Oakridge
- Richmond
- Port Moody
- Coquitlam
- Surrey
- Langley
Developed by Canadian Valley Growers in Aldergrove, the pop-up store concept is new to the retail gardening market, which sees Urban Roots transform otherwise empty lots into seasonal garden centres. Each store offers locally grown flower baskets, annuals, perennials, shrubs, and gardening accessories.
“I loved having a garden centre in my neighborhood where I could drive right up and load the car with plants for my garden,” says Terri Huston, local homeowner.
The pop-up markets also provide gardening enthusiasts with an opportunity to buy their plants directly from a grower right in their own community.
“We recognized there was a desire for locally-grown plants, gardening products and expertise,” offers Ron Murphy, Operations Manager for Urban Roots. “Because we grow all of our plants here at Canadian Valley Growers in Aldergrove, we are able to give a direct-from-the-grower experience and fair pricing for our customers.”
Giving back to the community is a major focus for the Urban Roots Garden Market team, with $100,000 in plants donated to more than 30 community gardens, kitchens, and schools across Metro Vancouver last year. They plan to do the same this year as part of their Urban Roots Giving Gardens initiative, and look forward to donating over 30,000 vegetable plants to more than 100 school and community gardens in April.
